Welcome to Let The Light In Therapy
My name is Anna Lacey, and I'm here to help. Trauma casts a dark shadow over life, limiting what we see and how we interpret what we experience. This can happen if we have internalized negative beliefs about our identity. I work with people to understand how they experience shame, isolation, addiction, and hopelessness caused by Complex PTSD.
I have worked in the mental health arena for my entire adult life. I grew up in a distressed family system, and it was necessary for me to create a path to healing in order to have a life worth living. I lost a sister to mental illness, so I know firsthand how important it is to address trauma and addiction as well as to create healthy relationships. Nothing is more important to me than passing on what I have learned. I was previously the Clinical Director of a Mental Health Clinic in Sonoma, California.
If you feel stuck in patterns of shame, overwhelm, or feel isolated and misunderstood, you’re not alone—and there’s nothing wrong with you. Many of the struggles you’re experiencing make sense in the context of what you’ve lived through.
I can spot internalized shame in others very easily. I will offer you acceptance and encouragement, as you slowly learn to feel safe with me. I have so much compassion for people who feel unloveable, undeserving, unwanted, or incompetent. These are all negative views of self that create low self-worth and identity crises. I understand how it feels to carry internalized shame. And I know how to heal from it.
I specialize in working with adults who have experienced complex trauma, including:
chronic emotional invalidation
attachment wounds
anxiety, insomnia, or nervous system dysregulation
addiction
patterns of self-criticism or self-sabotage
isolation
self-worth and identity
My approach integrates:
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
mindfulness and self-compassion
Together, we’ll work to understand your internal system, build safety from the inside out, and create lasting change.

The Beliefs Beneath the Symptoms of C-PTSD
A reflective guide to understanding how trauma, invalidation, and repeated relational harm can become internalized as beliefs about who we are—and how those beliefs may shape people-pleasing, perfectionism, isolation, self-doubt, emotional flashbacks, and other C-PTSD patterns.

Complex PTSD: Follow My Map to Healing, A Clinician's Firsthand Account of the Path to Recovery by Anna Lacey, LCSW
In this forthcoming book, therapist and complex-trauma survivor Anna Lacey combines personal narrative with clinical insight to explain how repeated invalidation becomes internalized as painful beliefs about the self.
The book explores how these beliefs form and involve symptoms such as shame, emotional flashbacks, people-pleasing, isolation, perfectionism, self-abandonment, and difficulty trusting others. Drawing from Internal Family Systems, DBT, reparenting, self-compassion, and Adult Children of Alcoholics recovery, it offers readers a map for understanding not only what they experience, but why—and how healing can begin.
